INSPIRATION

Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one.  ~Stella Adler

Why should I paint dead fish, onions and beer glasses? Girls are so much prettier. ~ Marie Laurencin

All Art requires Courage

Fashion Design Sketches 1

My anime-ish style was getting boring so I am searching for a new signature sketch-style for fashion designs.

*these are not my own creations (source: google)*

The butterfly counts not months...

“The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.”

Rabindranath Tagore

My dear teacher wrote this quote down for me 5 years ago. she had made cards for every single one of us; each one different, with quotes she thought best suited that person. Yesterday I was looking through old things and found this card~ and it was one of those moments where everything just stops spinning and you can think clearly. It reminded me that I had been frustrated over everything and worrying myself sick over things I couldn't control. It reminded me of the better alternative: living for each moment and being assured that there is a plan and that when on the right path, you do not have to struggle against the current.

So in the spirit of the moment, I started doodling again. It's no great accomplishment but I realized that I had been making excuses not to draw because I was afraid that my work would again be a disappointment. So I start from the beginning, drawing just for the fun of it.

this one below i saw in a magazine and it caught my eye for some reason

kinda wish i had pursued fashion design. that would have been one exciting path. now it's too late and i suck T.T    ( these figures don't have hands/feet because i can't draw hands/feet and i'm too lazy to try haha)

Zurück zu Xanga!!

Hellooo::ellooo::oo::o  highly doubt that any of u guys still visit xanga haha....i however find xanga more appealing than facebook/myspace/blogger. hence my loyalty. all i need is an uncomplicated place to write & post pics~ where every single miniscule move i make won't make headlines on someones feed ughhh facebook whyy?? since i am technologically/html challenged, xanga is perfect for me. And I will update more often from now on.
This entry is very late since I have been back from Vienna for quite some time...BUT I was lazy and had other things on my mind.  Still, had to share some highlights of my trip on good old xanga.

Melange (Austrian coffee) & of course one of my faves, Tiramisu

Horse carriages everywhere

High level of environmental awareness. planting trees here.

creatively wacky buildings that serve dual functions of artistic expression&usefulness

beautiful architecture of course that is typical of Europe

places that come straight out of fairy tales

museums!

~Music!  a vital part of the Vienna culture

the main University of Vienna

reunion with a blast from the past (Kiel, Germany classmate from 4th grade!!)

hiking in the breathtakingly serene Raxalpen

Making an artist friend, learning how to sketch anatomy, and getting my first portrait done :)

Alcohol galore and absolutely no ID checking. but alas, i could not drink anything stronger than "Sturm" (which is almost like cider) without feeling sick so this was wasted on me haha.

Returning to Europe, even if it was not my 1st choice destination of Germany, was an unforgetteable experience that has taken on a far-away, dream-like quality, the edges are blurred and random memories appear out of nowhere. Only a year ago I was in Europe~ but it seems like a decade. Sometimes I wish that I had never left in 1998~ i wonder what kind of person i would have become?oh well, c'est la vie. Hopefully, I will get to visit Deutschland next time!

1st Impressions

I have been in Wien for 2 days now.
*But the airplane to Amsterdam couldn't have been worse. Some things that ticked me off:

- no movies
-crappy, broken seat in front of me
-crappy food
-toilet paper ran out
-bitter&crazy looking stewardesses who took the bread rolls in their hands before giving them out >.<

in conclusion: i strongly advise against flying with Northwestern from America. from Amsterdam->Vienna the service was A-Ok

P1000100
my room was a mess for 2 weeks before I left. (too messy to be shown, but this pic is on the 15th).

Welcome to My Dorm Room in the beautiful city of Vienna!

P1000114
its pretty big with big windows. i got lucky with the corner room.

P1000115
the bathroom, shower not pictured (the hot water comes right away YEsssss)
NOTICE the 3 different garbage cans (paper, plastic, or trash...they're very serious about the environment here. as we all should be)

P1000116
huge storage space!! i should go buy more things...

P1000119
the view from my window (not the greatest but better than seeing my neighbor's window at home)

I do not miss home @ all but I do miss the people from there.

Hehe something funny i saw- german tongue twister

Zwei Mütter über ein Kind:
- ""Darf dat dat?""
- ""Dat darf dat.""
- ""Dat dat dat darf ...""
Hamburg dialect. :D
